Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett

Viral Immunologist. Lead scientist on the team that developed the Moderna Covid-19 mRNA vaccine, saving millions of lives globally.

Dr. Mark Dean

Computer Scientist & Engineer. Co-inventor of the IBM Personal Computer (PC) and holds 3 of the original 9 PC patents. A true architect of the digital age.

Dr. Mae Jemison

Astronaut, Physician & Engineer. The first African American woman to travel to space aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour. Advocate for science education.

Dr. Timnit Gebru

AI Ethics Researcher. A leading voice in artificial intelligence, co-founder of Black in AI, and known for her groundbreaking work on algorithmic bias and the ethical implications of technology.

Dr. Shirley Jackson

Theoretical Physicist. Her fundamental research led to advancements in telecommunications, including touch-tone dialing and fiber optic cables. First Black woman to earn a PhD from MIT.

Katherine Johnson

A pioneer of the American space program, NASA mathematician and aerospace technologist. Her orbital mechanics calculations were essential to the success of the US’s first crewed spaceflights.

Jessica O. Matthews

Co-founder of Uncharted, which made Soccket, a soccer ball used as a portable power generator.

Dr. Charles Drew

Medical researcher. Developed innovative techniques for long-term preservation and storage of blood plasma that earned him the title “Father of the Blood Bank.”

Lonnie Johnson

Engineer and entrepreneur. The inventor of several products including the Super Soaker, a bestselling toy that generated over $1 billion in sales.
