Black History Month Spotlight: Finding Hope and Fulfilling Destiny In The Fantasy Realm.

Black History Month is a time to reflect on history, to reflect on the enduring spirit and leadership that always have guided the path toward a better future. That same powerful spirit — the commitment to resilience, unity, and hope — is brought to life vividly in the fantasy saga, Dawn of Destiny: The Power of Hope.

In my journey through the law enforcement and financial worlds, I’ve noticed the most successful people aren’t always those with the most talent — they often are those that had someone ahead of them telling them, “Here is where the tripwires are hidden.” Yes, there is a specific kind of grace in the “reach back.”

The Moral Responsibility of Access
Mentorship is the active practice of integrity. It is the refusal to pull up the ladder behind you. When we look at the history of Black and Women’s leadership, progress wasn’t just made through policy; it was made through proximity.
It’s the senior partner that brings a junior associate into the high-stakes meeting so the associate can “see how the room works.”
It’s the established author that shares the “unwritten rules” of the publishing industry with a debut writer.

This gesture is what I mean by ‘The Art of the Reach.’ It requires humility from the mentee and a sense of stewardship from the mentor.

Mentorship in “Fiction with Integrity”
In my novels — whether it’s the political maneuvering in The Fierce Battle For Easton’s Future, the survivalist bonds in Project Genesis, or hope in the fantasy realm of the Dawn of Destiny — the relationship between the veteran and the novice is a recurring theme. I write these relationships because they are where the most profound moral lessons are passed down. A mentor in a story isn’t just there to give advice; he or she is there to challenge the protagonist’s integrity, holding up the mirror and asking: “What are you willing to sacrifice to win?”

Dawn of Destiny: The Power of Hope novel is not a historical account, but a powerful allegory that speaks directly to the themes we celebrate this month.

A Prophecy of Leadership in Hollingsworth

The story is set in the realm of Hollingsworth, a world woven with magic but tragically marred by cycles of conflict and a looming threat of darkness. A prophecy foretells a hero will rise from obscurity to meet this coming darkness — and that hero is Clifford Brockman.

Clifford is the unassuming figure thrust into the center of a monumental storm. His journey is a testament to the belief true leadership is forged not in privilege, but in the crucible of adversity.

This narrative echoes the countless times in history where ordinary, marginalized figures — guided by a profound inner conviction — rose to become the leaders their communities needed desperately to unite against overwhelming systemic forces.

Themes of Unity and Hope Against the Odds

At its core, Dawn of Destiny is a story of resistance. Clifford’s ultimate mission is to unite a realm on the brink of collapse.

The novel explores vital, universal concepts:

  • The Power of Unity: The only way to save Hollingsworth is through the strength found in collective action, a historical truth that resonates with every successful civil rights and community movement.
  • Destiny vs. Choice: Clifford must grapple with the immense responsibility of his destiny, choosing action and sacrifice over fear. His fight is a powerful metaphor for seizing control of one’s own narrative.
  • Hope as a Weapon: The “Power of Hope” is presented not as naive optimism, but as a genuine, transformative force capable of pulling light from the deepest shadows.

Through trials, tribulations, and the looming confrontation, the novel illustrates beautifully the growth, sacrifice, and unbreakable spirit needed to usher in a new, equitable dawn.

Why This Fantasy Saga is Relevant This Month

This Black History Month, we look for stories that move, challenge, and inspire. Dawn of Destiny: The Power of Hope captures the imagination while affirming the strength of the human spirit to overcome inherited darkness and forge a brighter, unified future.

It’s a reminder every journey toward liberation, whether fictional or historical, begins with an act of courage and an unwavering belief in a better tomorrow.

Curating Your Future-The Intentional Legacy

We have spent the last four weeks walking among and standing alongside the Giants. We have looked at the architects of the past and the present. Now, the most important question remains: What happens next?

Legacy is not an accident; it is a curation. Today, this series concludes with a look at the way we intentionally build the future. As an author, I believe our greatest project is the legacy we leave behind. What are you curating?

The Strategy of Intentionality
In finance, we curate portfolios to ensure a specific future outcome. In law enforcement, we curate evidence to establish a truth. As a Moral Observer, I believe we must apply that same level of intentionality to our lives.

To “curate your future” means:
Selective Association: Choosing to stand with those that challenge your integrity, not just those that soothe your ego, so you may be wiser.
Measured Action: Understanding that every small, “quiet” disruption contributes to the larger roar of progress.
Authoring Your Own Story: Refusing to let the world’s “stuffy” expectations define the chapters of your life.

The Final Word on “Fiction with Integrity”
I write fiction because stories are the blueprints of the soul. When you read about a character that finds his or her strength, or a society that rediscovers its moral compass, you aren’t just being entertained — you are being reminded of what is possible.

The books I write — the crime thrillers, the political dramas, the speculative futures — are all letters to the future. They are my way of carrying the torch, ensuring the values of integrity, justice, and courage are never lost in the noise of the modern world.
